Meet Kate Sutton

Hey there! I’m Kate—a psychotherapist with a big love for cooking, mental wellness, and finding ways to connect with ourselves in everyday moments. I believe mental health goes way beyond traditional therapy and can be woven into all kinds of activities, including one of my favorites: cooking.

I’m a licensed clinical social worker and run my own full-time private practice in the North Shore of Chicago. I have a passion for improving the lives of others and tapping in to my innately curious side; hence, this project. I started working on Make the Thyme in late 2020 due to the pandemic and I’m delighted to be able to share it with you.

In my free time, you’ll probably find me experimenting with recipes, savoring a good book, or coming up with the latest pun for my fantasy football team. I’m into all things true crime, Cleveland sports & indulging my wanderlust with my college sweetheart. My goal is to help others find grounding and joy, whether through therapy sessions or the simple, mindful art of making a meal. Thanks for stopping by & feel to reach out to connect!

Meet my sidekicks, Margot & Bertie! My dogs are not only my loyal companions in the kitchen, always nearby as I test out new recipes, but they're also right by my side when I’m in session. Their presence brings a sense of calm and joy to both my cooking and my work. Whether they're patiently waiting for a stray veggie or bringing a bit of lightness to a tough day, they’re an essential part of my team—and my life.
